The fact that this happens is called a BUG. and one in capitals. despite the fact that buffered/unbuffered log is used. afaikr if a checkpoint then the logical log buffers are also written to disk... this is step 5 of a checkpoint process.... so it does not make a difference when buffered or unbuffered logging is used...
