OS HPUX 11.0
I'm in the process of troubleshooting a minor issue since we've upgraded to
HPUX 11.0. When the engine comes up, the following messages show up in the
online. log:
13:25:03 shmat: [EINVAL][22]: shared memory base address illegal
13:25:03 using 0xc0000000, needs 0xc2cc9000
13:25:03 Could not create single shared memory segment with resident andnon-resident partitions. Proceeding to create 2 shared memory segments
instead.
I've noticed that I'm creating a separate shared memory segment in onstat -g
seg. It doesn't show "(shared)" as it once did. That seems understandable,
as I bumped up my BUFFERS on the onconfig file. I now have four shared
memory segments according to onstat -g seg and ipcs -m. I know in the HPUX
10.20 that this could be a problem. Is this a problem in HPUX 11.0?
As for the shmat issue . . . I've already checked my SHMBASE from the
release notes and it matches with what is in the onconfig file. Once again,
the database engine revision hasn't changed, only the OS (and some IFMX
tuning for the new hardware).
Any ideas on these issues? My engine is up and there are no apparent
performance issues at this point. ("Just to be on the safe side . . .
wanting to understand what's going on in the HPUX world.")

You may need to diddle with your kernel params to get around this.

It's about 6 now, marginally better than 4. :-)

If you ever find out, please let me know...
