Two separate versions? Hi Tim You have to read up a little on JavaBeans. They are "controls" not too different from what OCX/ActiveX controls are to Visual Basic and other Windows tools (but a better implementation as far as I can understand). This means you can plug them into any tool that accepts JavaBeans. Visual Beans will be possible to drag and drop to any form like you now drag and drop text boxes, buttons and so on. This means there will be no special edition of Visual Cafe Pro (at least not for this purpose). However you may have to buy the beans from Informix in adition to Visual Cafe Pro from Symantec. I don't know if there will be a version that includes these beans. If there will this will not be different from the standard version, it will just include more beans. Also you will of course be able to use the DDJ beans with any other tool that supports Java Beans. The only "problem" right now is that the JavaBeans spesification is so new that few support it yet. With the possible exception of Microsoft every Java dev.tool developer have announced that they will however. You will of course need the JOI library and possibly some tools to maintain the SuperTables in adittion to Symantecs products and the DDJ beans. It was also announced some time ago (before the user conference) that Symantec is going to package the Informix Universal Server with their Visual Cafe Pro product. I would assume that version will be available with both DDJ and JOI included, or at least easy to order. As I understand it this will mean that IUS will eventually be delivered with every copy of Visual Cafe Pro. A *great* marketing idea from Informix.
