So this would mean a Visual Basic or Visual C++ >client app communicating with New Era on the server. Exactly. I'd've thought this would be fabulously attractive to the bazillions of 4GL shops out there looking to put nice front ends on their 4GL code. Use a nice front-end tool for the UI (Delphi, or, shudder, VB) and talk to 4GL code on the server to do all the business logic. Bloody gorgeous. Also lets people migrate their 4GL to OO too. (Might even give NewEra a future!) For those stuck with CHUI development, Informix should stick the bits of 4GL that aren't in NewEra into NewEra (and so create a *useful* 4GL++) and give both 4GL and NewEra a future.
