Confirmation Regarding Migrated Restore

Hi all, In a migrated restore will i be able to selectively restore the selected Dbspaces from a leve 0 back up? with the condition that the target server where i want to restore has everything identical with source except the hardware, is it always mandatory to have identical hardware on both the source and traget machine? a bit more light on pre-requisites of migrated restore will be of great help.
