Thanks for everyone's help, so far. It appears the PC I was using had some problems, because I don't get the "getservbyname" problem on other PC's. Mine's now in the doghouse, and I'm borrowing someone elses. I'm getting to the server at this point. ILOGIN gives me an error -912 Network error - Could not write to database server.
