Vivek To perform a level 0 restore, all device names must be the same name and (at least) the same size. There are a number of other parameters in $ONCONFIG which must also be identical - including TAPEBLK, TAPESIZE, PHYSDBS, PHYSFILE, LOGFILES, LOGSIZE. If there are others the restore will tell your about them. The platform and informix version must also be identical HTH MW -----Original Message----- From: owner-informix-list@iiug.iiug.org [mailto:owner-informix-list@iiug.iiug.org]On Behalf Of vivek.chaudhary@st.com Sent: Wednesday, July 26, 2000 8:56 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Problem with the restore ... Here is the case: We have production system and a training system. Training system has data that comes from restore of production system level 0 backup. Last week our training system disk crashed. We put a new disk. Informix had to be initialized and so all the dbspaces. Training box has exactly same dbspaces, # of chunks, links etc. Should training box need to have exactly same size dbspaces, chunks as production in order to restore from 0 level backup of production. Or Could I manage with production's used space as size in creating dbspaces, chunks in trainig box. Thanks Vivek
