Actually Informix will do the casting for you automatically (I don't
think you'll have any problems with money to char). But as Jonathon
stated, this may or may not suit your needs. Give it a try like you
have below (without the 'cast' part), and see it the resulting output
file looks like you want it to.

Sorry to appear dim - what is the Informix syntax to cast float field to
char to get this to work.
