I get the following errors when I use make (make -f myschema.mk.norcs) or esql to compile myschema: esqlc: "myschema.eh", line 247: Error -33051: Syntax error on identifier or symbol 'bigtxt'. esqlc: "myschema.ec", line 824: Error -33051: Syntax error on identifier or symbol '"SELECT fragtype, tabid, indexname, strategy, evalpos, exprtext, dbspace \\ FROM 'informix'.sysfragments \\ WHERE tabid = ? AND fragtype = 'T' \\ ORDER BY evalpos "'. I'm using: INFORMIX-ESQL Version 9.14.UC1 on SUNSPARC 2.6 I have no problem compiling and running the demo programs (1 thru 4), but I get syntax errors on all of the utilities in utils2_ak. TIA. Compiles fine on my Sun development box using either GNU C (2.95.1) or the Sun WorkShop Compiler 5.0. What does 'cc -V' report? The default C compiler on Solaris is NOT ANSI compliant and the code for myschema, and for most of my utilities is! You have to get either GNU C or a Sun compiler/workshop suite. It's seven years since the ANSI C standard was ratified and almost 10 since it was published. I refuse to continue writing K&R 'C'! Art S. Kagel
