What is interesting is that it says "partition" recently added to. That
seems to imply that the extents of a tblspace have been added to. But I
don't see why that would require a level-0 archive. You didn't by any
chance do an oncheck -pt of the table before doing the level-0? That might
have told us something. But I guess that as the problem has cleared we will
never know - and I know what you mean about immature techies :-0
