For sheer bussiness reasons it's necessary to accomodate this market whatever your or my technical evaluations of VB might be. They'll loose in a big way in the MS Windows race if they don't. This isn't even sad, it's good bussiness sence. Don't destroy that when Informix have finally seen this light. In my opinion they used to be so Unix centered they didn't even understand the requirements of good GUI tools, much less good MS Windows tools. That has changed, albeith a little slowly, with their different aquisitions over the last year or two. People with non Unix background have come into the company. The CenterView products are tools. With these Informix have something for the pure MS Windows people (ActiveX, OLE, VB and others), NewEra for the bigger systems (assuming - or hoping - 3.0 is an ok product), and are working hard on Java on all levels. May be, just may be, we are seeing them pull their tools division together a little and doing what they have to do. Now if they could also buy Borland, Symantec, possibly Asymetrix or some other good Java tools developer they might be on track. Having Borland's Delphi on board wouldn't be a distraction either.
