Re: Informix licensing

But dear Informix: The end user who writes MS Excel macros (Visual Basic for applications) or use MS Word Basic or equivalent tools - do they need a development licence? It is long since I read the licence agreement - but the answer must be: of course not. Using Visual Basic or other tools isn't much different. Does Informix expect me to check on the end users, and tell them they must buy a development licence if they do this? Hardly possible, and what a screem I here... There is no difference in the product delivered as far as I now, so I assume development licences originates from the fact that more support is generaly required when users do development work. This should obviously be split out in separate pricing for such support. Isn't that allready the case by the way? On the '5 user minimum' issue, as I have understod it that depends on the machine you run the db engine on. On small machines (SCO) we have been buying single user licenses for a long time. We could hardly survive if we wheren't allowed to do that.
