I'm looking for suggestions/impressions about Informix 7.x and Solaris 2.5 My current config is: Sparc 20 with dual 50s (soon to be 150s) 196 meg RAM Differential SCSI to EMC Symmetrix (disk array w/ 1 gig cache) SunOS 4.1.3 It's for a high speed imaging system. We scan and OCR 160,000 docs a day per server (approx. 16 gigs); we have 5 servers. We generally have 125-150 processes connected to each DB. We dynamically create/drop large tables (50-300 meg) throughout the day. We're required to retrieve and display an image and its OCR data in less than a second, so we're very speed conscious; we process about 10-20 of these requests per second. We've been told that multi-threaded nature of 7.x would greatly benefit us, but from reading other messages I'm losing faith. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
