INFORMIXSHMBASE

Solaris 2.6, Online 7.24UC3, 4gl 6.05UD1 I'm looking for information about the environment variable INFORMIXSHMBASE. No, not SHMBASE from the ONCONFIG file. We have a program (very poorly written 4gl, uses 200,000+ module scope records, etc., but that's another story) that is triggering Informix bug 69621. Setting INFORMIXSHMBASE to 35000 got rid of the problem for a little bit, then it reoccurred. This time, 55000 was needed to keep the symptoms away. I'm more than a little concerned that INFORMIXSHMBASE will need to grow like this in production -- there really doesn't seem to be any reason for the change (all tests conducted w/ fresh system logins, etc, etc). Has anyone had experience with this particular environment variable? FYI, 69621 is a bug where programs rcv. various runtime errors, in our case -4339 and -25588. Switching to TCP connections (not feasible for various reasons here) and increasing INFORMIXSHMBASE both fix the problem). -Richard
