Isn't this contradictory? From IBM's site (reference below): One area: Informix Dynamic Server V9.4 Workgroup Edition features and attributes include: High availability Point-in-time instance wide restore Table level backup and recovery XBSA support for easy integration of third-party backup tools Supports high-availability clustering solutions Lower down: Function limitations - You may not use the following functions of the program: parallel data query, data partitioning, parallel backup, parallel restore, parallel load, parallel unload, optical disks, Enterprise Replication (ER), High Availability Data Replication (HDR), VML (ability to access more than two GB RAM). Why advertise that it "Supports high-availability clustering solutions" and then say that HDR (Informix's high availability clustering) is restricted? Our salesman told us that we could use HDR, provided that we purchase an additional license for the redundant server... Who's > right? Same here. Few weeks back I was making lot of enquiries about WGE and after confusing replies, finally got what we wanted. (a) WGE can be used on a 4CPU box, same as DB2. (b) HDR can be used with WGE. However one CPU license need to be purchased for the secondary server. Also, the secondary server can not be used for reporting as a load balancing option. Again same as DB2. Note: We are looking for Informix/Db2 Gold Bundle option. Your sales rep can say no to the above two options if only Informix license is purchased.
