SAS-Informix needs libsql.a
Posted in 1997
I'm installing SAS on my wife's SPARC5 so she can crunch up numbers in her Informix database. We bought the SAS-Informix gateway s/ware from SAS. Gotcha is, it needs libsql.a which we don't have. Rumour has it that this file only ships with esql/c, which we neither have nor want. Before I start chasing my Informix reps, does anyone know what this file actually *does* ship with and whether it's likely to be obtainable by itself, without charge (naturally)? Given what a drama it was getting SAS to install (talk about 1970 install scripts; sheesh) now I've got that far, it'd be nice to actually *use* it for something. Engine is SE 5.07.UC1 on Solaris 2.5/SPARC. We've got INET but don't need it for SAS. I'm open to ther suggestions w.r.t. stats s/ware as well. Been 15 years since I used SAS and IMO there hasn't been much improvement in the UI. Considering I used to run it on IBM mainframes, this isn't a compliment. Thanks, Peter Wiley
