Sorry, mail bounced: >Thanks for the NEWS of Informix's DOS release. Do you have the part numbers >for isql (full and runtime) and esql/c (full and runtime) for 5.25 and 3.5 >diskettes. I tried to get pricing information from a couple wholesale resellers >and they need part numbers. >BTW, have you used the new release yet; if so, is it in your professional >opinion much better than 2.10.xxx? If you mean better in the sense that 4.1 has more functionality, then yes, this release is clearly better. Note that this release does not yet include a local engine, so you will have to go client-server. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I am pleased to announce the availability of the DOS/Windows 4.1 client release. This initial release includes: INFORMIX-ESQL/C, 4.1 INFORMIX-SQL, 4.1 INFORMIX-NET PC, 4.1 These products are orderable immediately using the following port numbers: 024187 for 5 1/4" high density disks (1.44 MB format) 024188 for 3 1/2" low density disks (720 K format) 024199 for 5 1/4" low density disks (360 K format) Also, for the convenience of the customer, two new product bundles are available. These are: INFORMIX-ESQL/C CLIENT, 4.1 which includes INFORMIX-NET PC and INFORMIX- ESQL/C; and INFORMIX-SQL CLIENT, 4.1 which includes INFORMIX-NET PC and INFORMIX-SQL. These bundles are orderable immediately using the above port numbers. This initial client offering is only aimed at DOS/Windows customers that will connect their applications to remote Informix database servers running on UNIX. The DOS 4.1 server release (C-ISAM and INFORMIX-SE) will not be available until early Q3 '92. In the past, customers received the local DOS database server (INFORMIX-SE) with each application tool--so be careful to relay this to customers. INFORMIX-SE for DOS will be a separate deliverable! To assist you in selling these products, a sales guide has been distributed to all Informix offices and distributors worldwide. Additionally, three new tech briefs are available in the info center. And finally, an addendum to the Americas Price Book is being distributed. Many thanks to the DOS/Windows development team for their hard work and dedication to this on-schedule release!
