transaction volume
Posted in 2012
Andy wanted to compare transaction volume across several IDS 11.5 servers over a 24-hour window. Suggestions: use onstat -p commit/rollback counters (or sysmaster:sysprofile iscommits/isrollbacks, with sysshmvals.sh_pfclrtime vs sh_curtime for elapsed time) taking start/end snapshots. John Miller noted IDS stores onstat -p history in sysadmin:mon_profile (30 days, 4-hour intervals) and posted a query joining mon_profile, ph_task and ph_run on pf_iscommits, also viewable via OAT's Performance History. One user hit 'mon_profile not found'; Miller supplied the missing view definition over mon_prof/sysshmhdr, but the thread ends without confirmation that it worked.

Topics: General Discussion
I have several IDS 11.5 servers that I am wanting to compare and see how much work they are doing in transaction volume over a defined time period (last 24 hours). Is there a way to look at this information or some other information that I can use to compare the volume of work they are each performing? Thanks
A similar question came up not too long ago. A quick and dirty way would be=
to use onstat -p and take a start and end count of the number of commits (=
provided that your databases use transaction logging)

In the onstat -p report look at the 'commit' and 'rollback' values. Those
are the total number of committed and rolled back transactions since the
stats were last zero'd out. The same data can be found in the
sysmaster:sysprofile table where name is in ('iscommits', 'isrollbacks').
The UNIX epoch time when the stats were last zero'd out is
sysmaster:sysshmvals.sh_pfclrtime. You can compare that to the sh_curtime
column in the same table to determine elapsed time in seconds or convert it
to a date/time string with:
select dbinfo( 'utc_to_datetime', sh_pfclrtime) from sysshmvals;.

It sounds like you are missing the following view.
create view mon_profile as select ID, A.name, B.value fromsysmaster:sysshmhdr A, mon_prof B where B.number = A.number;
create index mon_prof_idx1 on mon_prof(ID, number);

What is the "rate"?
What do negative values indicate?
Here is a sample:
