Sun has missed more opportunities than even IBM can take credit for missing. Sun: We'll never go Linux! -- they went to Linux We'll never go Open Source! -- they went Open Source We'll never open source Java! -- they open sourced Java We'll never go x86! -- they went x86 Sun is grasping for some kind of relevance as they lose most of what they had to other and emerging markets. They are now offering hardware on 60- day evals to the mass market. Tell me why Sun is capable of making any market-making moves that are compelling enough to use their stuff instead of commodity stuff that is more cost-effective. Their chipsets are behind IBM, so what do they have that is even worth talking about? MySQL? It doesn't scale worth a crap, although I will admit better billable than other databases at the moment besides Oracle. Sun is grasping for relevance, the only saving grace they have is that they have a lot of cash. Other than cash, what good are they? They should become a bank!
