Re: SIS: Talk about a shift in partners...

its 7 or 8 years since the acquistion IDS is still here and has been significantly enhanced in the last few years There IM sales leaders responsible for who have responisbility for the growth of the Informix business worldwide Informix has never been attractive to hardware sales people, be it IBM, Sun, Fujitsu ICL Siemens or whoever Informix has always done well in the embedded apps market as the reduced hardware costs make their solutions more affordable That is still the case today When does this big bad IBM stop? Oracle is a major business partner not just for IBM hardware but also for Information Management. FileNet and Cognos have significant deployed bases on Oracle. Perhaps this has an impact on the Peoplesoft / Informix ports, you scratch our back and we'll scratch your? IBM will not stop partnering with Oracle, be it hardware, software or services work. That will not stop the Informix sales leaders continuing to promote Informix and selling Informix when it is appropriate, typically as an embedded app in the SMB space. Yes mistakes have been made. Decisions were made that were they to be made today may not have had the same outcome. But thats history now, is it not time to move on and embrace this brave new world, where IBMs partners in one space are their competitors in another space?
