Ken,
What kind of performance, OLTP or DSS?
Are you using it more for Queries or more for applications?
1. I noticed your RA_PAGES are not set, so you should seek out the manual, and
set them accordingly.
2. Have you set KAIO on? If you have a raw-disk you should attempt it. See
release notes about kernel params that need to be set to make it work. You
should also set KAIO in the same environment oninit will use to bring the
system up, i.e.:
export INFORMIXSQLHOSTS=$INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts
export ONCONFIG=rebel_shm.cfg export KAIOON=1
export IFMX_HPKAIO_NUM_REQ=5000
.
.
.
oninit
3. Take a look at PDQPRIORITY. It isn't on. For a DSS system you need to set
these. But you may not want it for your OLTP system. You can set this at
start-up as an ENV. See page 38-49.
4. You might want to set your checkpoint back to 300, and adjust other things
before changing this, so you can really see if checkpoints are affected.
5. Don't know about DEC-Alpha but check your release notes for any and all kernel
params you need to set. OPTCONDIND needs to be 0 for many systems due to
bugs with it, so you might set this to zero.
6. NOAGE could be affecting your system too.
7. BUFFERS may not be high enough. But set this first before calculating
the rest--not to suggest you don't know this, but head to 38-10.
With a GB of memory, your BUFFERS seem low.
8. Once you change your BUFFERS, your LRU values will change. Watch with onstat -R.
They appear tight, but only affect OLTP, not DSS, as a general rule.

Keep in mind my depth of wisdom is no where near what is available from
this group. I offer these suggestions only as possible solutions and
in no way definitive. I am not a certified DBA, but certainly certifiable.
:-)
Good luck and I hope somebody else posts more ideas.
