Informix OnLine Manuals
Posted in 1994
It seems that a great amount of interest has been generated from my original post, regarding Informix manuals being online. A number of followup posts mention the Informix product "OnLine Workstation Manual". This product is *IMHO* a giant step in the right direction, however its scope is limited to the OnLine administratos's manual. A post from Joy Robinson, of Informix states that there is a movement within the company to provide online versions of documentation. She goes on to say that a survey was taken on this newsgroup "several years ago" to "better understand our customers' interest in, and expectations of, online manuals". *aside* I get the impression that this newsgroup is the only place this survey appeared. I have been working with Informix for "several" years and have not seen any formal mail from Informix with regard to this issue. Being a relative newcomer to the "usenet" I, in all probability missed the survey that was refered to. I would wager that there are a great number of customers interested in a survey of this type, that do not have usenet access. Perhaps the survey should be mailed to registered customers, as well as being posted here. *end of aside* In her post, Ms. Robinson asks that we include answers to a number of questions that are, *IMO* best answered in a formal survey. Best regards,
