Thanks Keith,
I will take a look at this solution as it appears to be the best
way....
On another tack, does anyone have an idea on how to find out which
version of informix driver is being used on our system?
Hi Howard.
cat $INFORMIXDIR/etc/*cr in your system.
HTH.

when looking in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/*cr these files are displayed....
IDS2000-cr
MSG-cr
2004 GLS-cr
The contents being...
IDS2000-cr
IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 9.40.FC4
Copyright (C) 1986-2004 IBM Corporation, All rights reserved
MSG-cr
IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 9.40.FC4
Copyright (C) 1986-2004 IBM Corporation, All rights reserved
GLS-cr
INFORMIX LIBGLS LIBRARY Version 4.00.FC4

My question is, where does it say which Informix driver is being used?

That information tells you that none of the client software is installed, so no driver per se is in use. I'm not clear from the removed part of the messages why you need to know about the driver. The DB-Export and DB-Import programs come with IDS, so the version you have is 9.40.FC4. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2007.0226 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
