hi netters, i have a problem with insert statement. It is listed below. The problem is if i qoute $r_assigned as "$r_assigned" to preserve the integrity of the values, the $r_assigned etc are not expanded before insertion. I'm sure i can do quoting in SQL. i tried to use EXEC SQL ... , results are the same. How i achieve this. Thanks for help jaswant ---------------------------------------------------------------------- stcopy(argv[1],r_state); stcopy(argv[2],r_now); stcopy(argv[3],r_date_needed); stcopy(argv[4],r_fullname); stcopy(argv[5],r_login); stcopy(argv[6],r_cc); stcopy(argv[7],r_assigned); stcopy(argv[8],r_abstract); stcopy(argv[9],blobfname); stcopy(argv[10],r_priority); stcopy(argv[11],r_tag); cat_descr.loc_loctype = LOCFNAME; cat_descr.loc_fname = blobfname; cat_descr.loc_size = -1; cat_descr.loc_oflags = LOC_RONLY; EXEC SQL set lock mode to wait 10; $insert into request (state, now, date_needed, fullname, login, cc, assigned, ab stract, description, priority, tag) values ($r_state, $r_now, $r_date_needed, $r _fullname, $r_login, $r_cc, $r_assigned, $r_abstract, $cat_descr,$r_priority,$r_ tag); -- +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Jaswant S.
