Thanks to all the respondents. In brief: create a termcap entry which defines the proper number of lines and columns w_hp:\\ :li#50:co#132:tc=hp: Of course you must then set TERM=w_hp or whatever. In the form: screen size 50 by 132 rock and roll. While I was at it, I put a front end on which opens an hpterm window of the proper size for the program so I wouldn't have to worry about the user re-sizing on me. With the 4.10 added capability of OPEN WINDOW WITH FORM variable , I also made the program smart enough to use the proper form and size depending on whether it was being called as an xprogram or a regular program (does regular form size for the 'regular' program). Finally - while having a good time - I changed all my calls to showhelp to a custom function which invokes a program in an xwindow with the help message so that the user could actually read the help while running the program. I know - why not just do NewEra.... cheers j. _____________________________________________________________________________ Jack Parker - Hewlett Packard, DMD/IS Boise, Idaho, USA jparker@hpbs3645.boi.hp.com _____________________________________________________________________________ Lysdexics Untie! _____________________________________________________________________________ Any opinions expressed herein are my own and not those of my employers. _____________________________________________________________________________
