What is the efficiency loss on INFORMIX 7.3 when using a simple VIEW to SELECT and UPDATE the table it points to? No WHERE clause, we are just changing the tablename and fieldnames. Eric Loos Advanced Technologies Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
None. We simply treat the view as a templet that you are selecting from. Ok Ok --- Maybe a few additional nano-seconds while we are looking up the templet, but that only occurs during the prepare/optimization of the query. If you prepare your statements, then no additional cost. eloos@atsecure.net wrote: > What is the efficiency loss on INFORMIX 7.3 when using a simple VIEW to > SELECT and UPDATE the table it points to?
