In terms of raw numbers, November was a relatively light month. Here are the monthly traffic counts for 1993 so far, taken from the FTP archive at mathcs.emory.edu: 1993.01: 244 files, 565900 chars 1993.02: 257 files, 429412 chars 1993.03: 367 files, 676936 chars 1993.04: 346 files, 618937 chars 1993.05: 433 files, 869288 chars 1993.06: 285 files, 594463 chars 1993.07: 416 files, 808816 chars 1993.08: 455 files, 865672 chars 1993.09: 356 files, 662837 chars 1993.10: 416 files, 819602 chars 1993.11: 251 files, 499349 chars You might see higher storage counts at your site since the mail/news headers on messages reaching you may be longer than when they leave here. If you're tight on storage, then I'm afraid you and your sysadmin will have to handle that. There's not much I can do from this end. If you are speaking of being overwhelmed in the sense of information overload, then I will be so bold as to offer some personal philosophy: Read what you can, then let the rest go. Don't worry about it -- you'll still be better off than if you hadn't read any of it. If you've got the disk space, you could do your own archive for some moving time window. Or, perhaps you could convince your company to give you access to the Net if you don't have it already. Then you could grab files out of the archive at emory.edu as needed.
