The ONLY way: Call Informix Tech support and they can log in and truncate the logical logfiles so that the engine thinks the log ends at the beginning of log file with the last checkpoint. Then you can bring the engine up. You do need to go through logical recovery anyway since there will be open transactions from before the checkpoint that the physical recovery cannot overwrite and which must be rolled back. Why would you intentionally do this though? You will lose transactions not committed before the crash including any committed between the last checkpoint and the crash. Art S. Kagel
