Physically Informix does not count license accesses so it does not matter to the server, you cannot run out of licenses at runtime. Last time I spoke to Informix on the subject, legally, their license agreement counts multiple connections by the same user on the same client as one concurrent connection for license purposes so you would be counted as two connections in your scenario. BTW this caused Informix no end of grief licensing us since we have thousands of users but the client programs NEVER connect to the database only our own middleware-like data servers which all run as the same user on the server box itself, so ONLY ONE user!
