Automated Backups using ALARMPROGRAM

Hi, I am trying to set up automated backups of our Informix Database using an ALARMPROGRAM. We are running Informix v. 7.22 on HPUX 10.20 and have been using OnArchive to perform manual backups of the logical logs. I have followed the steps in the documentation that we have to set up automated backups using an alarm program, but have been unsuccessful. I am new to Informix Administration so would appreciate any help you can give me. Here is a list of the steps I have taken to set up the backups. 1. In config.arc I created a new device: DEVICE DISK_VOP = /home/informix/archive 2. Using Onarchive I created a new VSET called "auto" and 3 volumes auto1, auto2, auto3 in the /home/informix/archive directory 3. I changed the following parameters in logevent.sh: BACKUP_VSET = auto MAX_PCT = 10 (I set this low for testing) 4. Using onmonitor I set alarmprog = logevent.sh I then tested by filling up some logs, but nothing happened. Can anyone tell me what I am missing here? Did you use the whole path when you set the ALARMPROGRAM variable? I use Omniback to backup my logs automatically when 10 logs fill so I can't speak for Onarchive. It sounds as though it should work. Check the online log. It should say that an alarm event has occurred. If not, the instance isn't picking up the fact that you set the ALARMPROGRAM variable. I'd start there. Hi, Thanks for responding. I double checked and I did use the whole path for the ALARMPROGRAM variable. I also checked the online log, and it looks like no logging of alarm events have occurred since October 1999, although I don't know what has changed in the system since then to stop Alarm events from being logged. Any other suggestions? Right after the instance does a timestamp in the online log you should
see the statement:
06:10:04 Event alarms enabled. ALARMPROG =
/home/informix/7.24/etc/log_full.sh'
with your correct information. If you don't see that, after you verify
in the $ONCONFIG file that it is set, then I'd call Tech Support and
log a call. It should work if the ALARMPROGRAM variable is set.
