hi
i am trying to set up dr on a linux box (2.2.12) with informix ids2000 (9.20)
i seem to remember having great difficulty before when setting up dr on a linux box
running ids7.31... could someone show me how to do this (i followed the manual
and all i got was the secondary just sitting there in fast recovery mode .)
the steps i tried were:-
on the primary : ontape -s ; onmode -d primary servb
on the secondary (whilst offline): ontape -p ; onmode -d secondary serva
please help as i even more confused than usual.
ps. how come i received only 1 e-mail containg the vbs 'virus' and then around
200 e-mails warning me about it?!
thanks in advance for any helpful hints

The procedure you are following seems OK. However, make sure of the following
1. the instances are visible to each other (i.e entries in sqlhosts of each for the
other).
2. .netrc (or equivalent) set up for user "informix" to allow an auto-connect between
servers - not sure of this requirement, though. Use dbaccess to confirm, before bring
the secondary down.
3. the informix & OS versions are the same
4. specified onconfig parameters are the same
Also, wait for the "onmode -d primary" to return to the prompt (after failing) before
firing up "onmode -d secondary" on the secondary server - I've encountered the odd
"hang" when I jumped the gun.
