Triggers exist in V5.00?

To All, Our site is currently responsible for supporting multiple versions of the Informix database engine including (v5.00, v5.0x, and soon v7.x). Unfortunately, certain features are not supported across all platforms and building utilities becomes more inventive than it needs to be. We currently use database triggers to perform transactions on multiple tables (inserts/update/deletes) using Version 5.03. We have been unable to implement the identical logic on a Version 5.00 database without receiving syntax errors. Does anyone have a definitive answer to when database triggers were introduced? If introduced after Version 5.00 (which is different than v5.0x) does anybody know of other utilities that provide the same capabilities in Version 5.00?
