One of my clients, attempting to upgrade from OnLine 5.08 under UnixWare 2.1 to IDS 7.30 under UnixWare 7 is getting "segmentation fault - core dumped" errors from 4GL-RDS 7.20.UD7. Initially they were running UnixWare 7.0.1, with all the SCO-released patches; they were then advised that the problem was a UnixWare 7.0.1 problem that could be resolved by upgrading to UnixWare 7.1. This has been done, again with all patches being installed; with no change - the errors continue to happen under exactly the same circumstances. The errors are 100% reproducible. No problems have been encountered with IDS (7.30.UC2) itself, only with fglgo. The programs are fairly large, having been generated using the FourGen tools. I have seen mention of similar problems on this newsgroup before, with suggestions of changing C compiler options for various different platforms/compilers; however, this is RDS, so the compilation is out of our hands. Does anybody have any suggestions? Regards Peter Gibbs Emkel Systems Johannesburg South Africa

Unless you are linking C-modules into fglgo! Look into the compiler options for any of these. Art S. Kagel
Art Thanks for your reply. The FourGen suppliers have confirmed that a custom runner is created; however, the client has reproduced the problem using the original Informix-distributed fglgo.
