Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Hi,
I am using IDS Workgroup edition 7.30 on SCO unix 5.0.0. When I try to
startup informix, I get several warnings:
WARNING: Shared memory could not be directly allocated.
Informix is working OK after startup.
I set kernel parameters like release notes says. Can anybody tell me
what is the meaning of the warning.
Thanks in advance.

Just a guess. You have RESIDENT set to 1 and the size of the resident
segment (see onstat -g seg) is larger than available physical memory that
can be locked. This may be because of an OS tunable limiting the amount
of memory that can be locked into residency (PERCENTLOCKABLE in DGUX) or
you may just not have enough free RAM.
