From a technical point of view, I believe Informix's engines meet a wide
range of requirements, but if you want to have absolute faith in your data,
I'd advise you look at OnLine DSA. I certainly believe that Informix is at
least on a par with (if not better than) every other database. Judging by
the kind of posts we get here from Oracle employees, I think they're pretty
worried too! :)

Tools are a controversial issue: if you're running Unix only, I'd
unequivocally recommend Informix-4GL. Bar nothing. Period. :)
If you're developing client server, _I_ like NewEra, but there are some
strong Delphi proponents and even sicko's who push Visual Basic.... :) So
more of a debate there, possibly, but you have my opinions. FWIW.
