I'm running Informix Internet Foundation.2000, version 9.20.UC1-1 on Mandrake Linux 7.0 and I'm having those same problems, unless I disable shadow passwords. According to the Informix tech support, the problem occurs only when shadow passwords and NIS are used simultaneously, but on my systems I don't have any NIS. I am told it is fixed in 9.21.
