try the 'output to' construct. you may want to set do an 'stty cols 200' prior
to launching isql/dbaccess. here is a shell script for example:
stty cols 300
isql system << EOF
output to "/tmp/systables.out" WITHOUT HEADING
select * from systablesEOF
stty cols 80

I want to create a file, using a select statement, which selects character
columns without clipping them (stripping of trailing blanks ). Unload strips
trailing blanks. I'm using a 4gl program at the moment because the report
PRINT statement inlcludes trailing blanks when it outputs character columns.
It is a frequent, varying, job and I would *much* rather do it with a simple
SQL statement, any ideas?
