NewEra-Motif Changing the cursor

I have NewEra 1.01 for Motif (on HP-UX). Is there any way to change the cursor shape from a pointer to a busy cursor (such as the watch or hourglass) when executing a long query to the database? If a query takes more than about 10 seconds and the users still see a pointer for a cursor, they think the program is hung. Providing some sort of "busy" cursor would make them feel like the program is still doing something.
