RE: How to set up ROOTPATH's target file ??
Posted in 2000
1. I would suggest changing to a different path besides the default one. I personally do not like my chunks to reside in /dev 2. Most people use logical links to point to their chunks, making it easier to physically move the chunks around. 3. You can just use touch to create the file. Example of what I might do 1. Decide where the first chunk of rootdbs will go. (We will say it goes into /infx/chunk1/rootdbs) 2. Create directory where links to your chunks will reside. (We will say /infx/chunk_links) 3. touch /infx/chunk1/rootdbs 4. chmod 660 /infx/chunk1/rootdbs 5. chown informix:informix /infx/chunk1/rootdbs 6. ln -s /infx/chunk1/rootdbs /infx/chunk_links/rootdbs 7. Change ROOTPATH to /infx/chunk_links/rootdbs 8. Iniitalize engine. Standard disclaimers of me just typing what I recall apply.
