Public access application with informix

I must set up a public application developed using informix. This account will invoke a .cshrc which in turn will set some variables necessary for running informix applications. As it is only the first application runs fine, but all the others, which are invoked by the first, don't run successfully. It looks like the environment variables get lost somehow. Another question,isn'there an environment variable in informix which I can set to inform the application where the informix programs are? I'm sorry if my questions are very basic and simple but we are new users of informix and our documentation and support is not very good. If you can help me in any way I will be extremely grateful.
