Hi all,
Is there a way to copy a database currently existing on 7.23 UC1 engine
to a 7.30 UC6 engine ?The database is about app 40 GB and we currently
use ontape to backup.
Thanks

I thank the fastest way will be HPL project. You can also use simple
upgrade - restore with ontape, then convert your database. But if you want
to copy one of your databases only, its better to use dbexport.

Compliments of QueriX
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
QueriX 4GL Compilers are Informix 4GL Compatible. Some features are:
True Windows GUI Clients. ActiveX support. HTML Report Generation.
More rigorous error handling. Connection to other RDBMS such as Oracle.
Connection to all versions of Informix 4GL with no need to change compiler.

Hi Sujata,
When I moved from 7.22 to 7.30, and to a new machine, I used the HPL. It's
a real pain to set up, but my benchmarks show it a lot faster than
dbexport/load/unload etc.
If you have any table that will unload to larger than 2GB I believe the HPL
will have the same problem most Informix products do with over 2GB so you
will probably need to break into pieces -- but the HPL works well with
this.

Or, using HPL, you can pipe the file to compress on an unload and
redirect through compress on a load.
