Your shell has uploaded the termcap entry into the TERMCAP environment variable. The buffer for environment vars is too short for most termcap strings. Reset TERMCAP=/path/to/your/termcap/file whatever that is and you should be fine. It is possible that the string in the file is too long for the termcap library buffer (which was once defined at 2K max) so you will either have to take David's advice and switch to TERMINFO or shorten the entry you are using. The release notes specifically state that terminfo isn't supported in the Linux ports. Use "TERM=vt100" and consider yourself lucky. -- Forte International, P.O. That was one reason to upgrade to SE 7.24 UC8 for Linux; it did not state this specifically any longer, and there were other changes (major differences and improvements) so that it made sense to get UC8 (if one uses SE on Linux), for example for the seipcpip (officially supported in UC8).

Use "TERM=vt100" and consider yourself lucky. OR... upgrade to RedHat 7.0. The boys at RedHat fixed their termcap shenanigans and so "TERM=xterm" works again without complaint for Informix products on Linux. Even better in 7.0, vim doesn't leave a little cookie on your screen anymore. Moral of the story: avoid RH6.1 and 6.2. -- Forte International, P.O. However, back on topic, IDS7.3 was ported on RedHat 5.2, which was using the "very beta" glibc-2.0 (I really wish Informix had waited a month for the 6.0 release to do the port on). You still have to use the 5.2 compatibility packages (which didn't make it on the RedHat 7.0 release) for c4gl to work. -- Forte International, P.O.
