I do not know if this fits, but we were having a memory leak problem with
9.30UC1. We ran out of memory whenever we did an
"unload to <file> select <col...> from <table>"
where the select selected a lot of rows and <col...> included a column
having a composite data type. In our case the column was a row type with 5
components; I'm not sure if your spatial stuff uses composite types. A
workaround we came up with was to replace the above statement with
"unload to <file> select <col>::lvarchar from <table>" (i.e. explicit cast
to lvarchar, which will only work depending on the size of the
composite column).
This bug was fixed in 9.30UC6 (I believe) and 9.40UC1 - we went straight to
9.4.
