Hi, Folks, I'v found a problem with a 4GL program running on an Informix SE with SCO Openserver. This machine is a AMD K6-2 300 MHz with 64 Mb RAM space and sufficient disk space. We have a program which unloads some data to ASCII files for a modem communication, but in this case, the program exits abnormally with the following error message: 4GL run-time error number -4518 The 4GL program cannot allocate any more space for temporary string storage. I've checked this with other computers and the same configuration runs OK! Maybe I think there would be any problem with the swap space..... This machine was installed urgently and I think there is no sufficient swap space (I used to install three times the RAM space) and this machine's swap space is less than the RAM space.... Folks, you'll be thinking "What is this guy doing!" Must I reinstall all the system? Thanks
This is -4518 error is a known "feature" of Informix-4GL and New Era. The best place to learn more about this topic is at the web sites of both Informix and the International Informix User Group (IIUG). Don't have the IIUG site address handy though.
