Hi, a client of mine has compressed some of his chunk:) so the dbspace and the chunk where put down. I have taken on line the chunk (onsapces ....) but now I have the dbspace down. There is a way to force it online? Many, many thanks.
Call tech support for a dial-up session. I assume you decompressed the chunks already. Art S. My client told to me that Informix said that it's not possible to recover from that kind of problem. I think that this uncorrect: the chunk is good(there are no physical problem) so is a flag problem. > >Art S. The solution is related to the version of the Engine your client is using. If we're talking about a version 7.24 onwards, it should automatically retry to load the chunk during the start up phase (performing an Integrity Check). If they've compressed the rootdbs's chunk as well the engine won't even try to start up... Advanced support can do a dial-in and try to restore the situation changing the value of some flags that are stored in reserved pages. Anyway, in order to do a dial in it's necessary to provide a modem with a phone line attached to it and in this case it appears that nobody was/is able to install them on the machine that has got a problem (the person maybe is on holiday?). I've just realised that the case has been logged about a week ago and even if it has been required immediately, the phone line yesterday wasn't ready.... (I've personally called the customer). Informix's support never said that we can't try to fix this kind of things. It was wrong at the beginning the idea of trying such thing but everyone can do mistakes... Regards, Paolo Giromini If there are too many people in the world.. why can't we run a "pkzip people.zip *.*" ? -- I hear strange voices telling me horrible things all day long! So far, the only way to make them stop is to take off my headset.
