RE: Shared memmory initialization
Posted in 2000
It is possible that you have 2 problems:
1) An I/O error on your root chunk.
2) Your Informix instance may have crashed previously and did not remove
the shared memory segments. To identify these shared memory segments,
issue the following command: ipcs -m | grep informix
Informix shared memory segments will have owner=root, group=informix.
The key to these memory segments will start with 0x5256 if your
Informix SERVERNUM in the $ONCONFIG file is 0.
If non-zero, add its value to this value.
I.E. 0x5257 for server number = 1
Use the ipcrm to remove these segments before starting Informix.

Subject: Shared memmory initialization
Hi,
I am using Informix dynamic serrver version 7.31 on solaris 2.6. When I
am trying to reinitialize my shared memmory using oninit command, my
system gives an error
indicating fatal error in shared memory initialization.
The online.log gives the following message:
21:17:54 Event alarms enabled. ALARMPROG =
'/opt/resolve/thirdparty/informix/e
tc/log_full.sh'
21:17:59 DR: DRAUTO is 0 (Off)
21:17:59 Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.31.UC3
21:17:59 I/O bad request chunk 1, pagenum 42079, pagecnt 1
21:17:59 Informix Dynamic Server Stopped.
21:17:59 mt_shm_remove: WARNING: may not have removed all/correctsegments
I verified my etc/system for the set parameters, everything seems to
be fine.
Any pointers to solve this will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
