Make sure all the select queries in your application pages set the isolation level (locking) appropriately. It should probably be read committed. I suggest setting a variable in the Webdriver (NSAPI or CGI) configuration file that looks like ILRC isolation level read ("read committed") or ILRC isolation level ("read committed") depending on whether you're running Illustra 3.3.0.18 (??) (2nd) or an earlier version (1st).
