Can't help re Informix, but I have done exactly this running Progress client-server using a tcp stack. Slow, but connected & worked fine. I've done it where I have initiated the link directly to the client's machine and where the client initiated the link to our ppp server and I have had a client connected via ethernet to that server. I'd take a careful look at hosts & services files and see if your ppp link is using static or dynamic ip assignment. Have fun. Peter Wiley
