A user running IFX 9.20.UC1 on Red Hat 7.0 reported that dbexport failed with "Cannot make export directory" and wondered if it was a bug. Replies suggested checking permissions on the target directory, and Art Kagel explained that dbexport normally creates a directory named databasename.exp, which is impossible on a raw device — to export to a raw device you must tell dbexport to treat it as a tape drive. The poster replied that his directory permissions were fine and that dbexport only creates the .exp directory; no definitive resolution is recorded.

I am testing IIF-9.20.UC1-1 with REDHAT 7.0, All looks ok.
I saw that it supports raw device, but I have a problem when I execute
"dbexport" command, it displays error messages "Cannot make export
directory", someone knows, Why do I have this problem?
Thanks for you help

Check the permissions on the directory where you make the eport.

You can oly export to a RAW device by telling dbexport to treat it as a
tape drive. Dbexport otherwise wants to create a directory named:
databasename.exp and you cannot do that on a RAW device.
