Re: Error 908 - Connection Refused on remote server

First, are you confident that you have network connectivity? Try the
following
telnet RemoteIPAddress RemotePort
Note, the remote port usually is 1526
If you see a blank screen that means you have connectivity.
Do you have to use DBAccess? I have never tried using DBAccess to
connect to a remote machine. The reason I say is because DBAccess might
be using an inter-process communication protocol other than TCP/IP. Try
using something like WinSQL (http://synametrics.com) to connect and see
if you can connect.

Trying your telnet suggestion it connected fine. I also am able to VNC into the server to verify their configuration. I just spoke with someone at IBM support, I guess I need the client SDK installed. Downloading that now and if that helps out. I also downloaded the dbping utility to see if that helps out. - Rich
If you just want DBACCESS connected to a remote site, I would say it
should be straight forward.
Having the other server's info in the sqlhosts file,
dbaccess>connection>connect, choose the server...(using trusted, or
providing passwd explicitly...,) , then you are ready to go.
